Philosophy:
Every singer is unique, but certain principles remain constant. My teaching combines the traditions of bel canto singing with contemporary voice science, helping students build healthy, expressive, and sustainable vocal technique.
No Breath - No Voice
Nothing moves unless air moves it.
At the foundation of my teaching is the understanding that breath is both the fuel and the guide of the singing voice. Healthy vocal production begins with coordinated airflow and efficient breath management. Whether singing a soaring phrase or a single note, the voice cannot function freely without a well-organized breath
In Singing, All Things Move in Contrary Motion
Many of the challenges of singing are solved through balance rather than force. As pitches rise, the body learns to release rather than strain. As dynamic demands increase, support deepens rather than pushes. Great singing often depends on coordinating opposing tendencies so that the voice remains free, stable, and expressive.
" Without a Nuance, Everything is Extreemly Dull." - Leontyne Price
Technique exists in service of communication.
Beautiful singing requires more than healthy vocal production. The music and the character must breathe. Attention to text, phrasing, dynamics, color, and style transforms notes on a page into a compelling performance. Technical mastery and expressive storytelling are not separate goals—they are partners.
